OWNERSHIP

The Tanzania Nordic Medical Center is currently owned 100% by the Nordic Foundation Tanzania. But, it intends to get a potential partner from one of the Nordic countries to joint as a strategic investor/shareholder in order to own over 49% of the shares in the mentioned above medical facility. That is why, through Danida Business Partnerships (DBP) Programme, we think Tanzania Nordic Medical Center can create a long term commercially viable partnerships between Tanzanian and Danish companies in the Health center. This partnership eventually will revolutionalize and improve quality of health care provision in Tanzania and across East African countries.TANZANIA NORDIC MEDICAL CENTER (TNMC) has the following vision and mission as stated below

Tanzania Nordic Medical Center (TNMC) is the Modern medical facility run, managed and owned by Nordic Foundation Tanzania. The facility is the hub of well-trained, highly experienced Nordic and Tanzanian medical doctors and nurses. TNMC provides high quality medical services which is reliable, affordable and accessible to common citizens at 24/7.

Introduction

The Management of Nordic Foundation Tanzania as part of its responsibility to implement the organization’s five years strategic plan 2015 2020, has resolved to embark on a project titled; providing high quality health services which is reliable, accessible and affordable to everyone regardless of sex, age, race, nationality, ethnicity or sexual orientation . To achieve this noble objective, the organization has registered through Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA), the named above institution, “The Tanzania Nordic Medical Center.

The medical center will comprise of health workers from both Nordic countries and their counter-part from Tanzania. As part of its responsibility, Nordic Foundation Tanzania would work to ensure availability of working permits and required licenses for medical practioners from Nordic countries. So far the discussions with officials of Ministry of Health & Social Welfare is going and quite promising. The preliminary agreement is that the Tanzanian Health Workers to constitute over 80% of the total work forces and 20% of the work force or below to come from Nordic Countries.

ORIGIN OF TANZANIA NORDIC MEDICAL CENTER

Tanzania Nordic Medical Center is a modern health care facility in Tanzania owned and managed by Nordic Foundation Tanzania. IT was founded in September, 2013 as an idea which was born out of a doctoral thesis titled “BACK to the ROOTS: A New Social Policy Agenda for the Welfare of the Elderly in Rural Tanzania: The Case Study of Bukoba rural district. The author of this doctoral thesis who is an alumina from the Nordic country, had envisioned a creative approach to design a home-grown programme of social protection for low income earners and rural communities in Tanzania through ICT & Telecommunications as well as  establishing the health care facility to emulate the Nordic standards of  health care provision.
